I have, site unseen, procured a CR221V. 22 Feet, aluminum, V6 I/O condition unknown. Boat itself looks pretty decent in the pictures. Trailer needs help, I plan on flatbedding the whole rig home....

Can anyone point me in the direction of some documentation on this boat?

Thank you.

I cannot easily, too many beverages but many here will. You've come to the right place.

Welcome.

What make is the boat? Do you have any pictures? Any other details would help.
Same questions about the trailer also...

Welcome to the Starmada, Oscar.

What year is your Starcraft? With that we can direct you to some brochures if we have them.

What V6 is powering her? If you have questions about the motor and drive, we can also point you in the right direction.

Dues for entry are some pictures, we love pictures.

Wow, that's a lot of reply, quickly. Loving this forum. Yes, it is an aluminum Starcraft. I am told there's a "Jimmy V6" in it..... Have to wait a few on the pics....

Yep, it is going to be an adventure. (As usual.) Going on the 1000 mile road trip second or third week of April. It's been sitting on a trailer in the same spot for 10+ years. They put some 4x4's under the frame of the trailer to keep it from sinking any further.... I am bringing my 7000#/18' flatbed trailer, a lot of 6x6 blocks and jacks. Planning to put the whole thing, trailer and all, on my flatbed. Not taking those tire old wheels and bearings on a 1000 miles trip back, not to mention lights and all that. Want to take it off when I get home and give the trailer the proper TLC before we do that.

I saw pictures of the title/registration. They're in-laws of a colleague of mine so I know the scoop and it's not just some yoyo.

That said, I will not start the real report including pictures until I lay eyes on it and don't offer them to take it to the scarp yard for them. If it's as decent as it looks in the pictures I will start play by play reporting here, but I don't want to jinx it.

(Suspenseful movie music... aaaaand.... to commercial) ;-)

That could be a 4.3L GM V6 which is a great motor if it's of the Mercruiser variety and not OMC. I think there were also some 3.8L V6's put in but those were all OMC.

As with any cast iron block IO motor, care and winterizing is the key to their longevity. Normally when IO boats sit a long time the reason was someone didn't winterize and the block is cracked so they just sit.

Good luck on the journey, I sure enjoyed my road trip to Montana to get my SS.

I'll find out..... I have the facilities in my back yard to lift that motor out, (my neighbors love me) put it on a stand and rebuild it if I have to...... Now, the out drive will be new territory. Been a sailor all my life and straight shaft or outboard is all I've ever dealt with.

Hope its a Mercruiser setup and not an OMC white leg of death*

Wrong kind of OMC would be enough to discourage a short drive to pick it up, and kill a long drive for most.

good luck

pending pickup: welcome to the tin-sanity

You'll be pulling the motor mo matter, I would imagine the transom wood is needing replaced.

Doing reading, lots of reading..... And this looks like the "OMC white leg of death". Ouch they are available but spendy.... What's wrong with them other than that their manufacturer is gone? Parts availability?

How hard is it to change out the drive unit to a different model?

Learning new words..... "Stringer" (it's a 1982) and "Batwings"...... Hmmm this is going to get interesting. Maybe I'll just yank it all out and put a nice small block V8 with matching drive in it.....

Something else to learn - Donor boat.

A few have converted from a WLOD to Mercruiser gear. The biggest thing is closing the huge hole in the transom, but not insurmountable.
