Hello.

I'm back again. Not that I posted much before, but, well, here I am.

The 17' open bow is gone. The 21' cuddy cabin is gone. The latest project is a 1974 Fairliner. Thirty-Two feet of future funds lost, sore back and muscles, etc. SO excited!

The boat came, appropriately named "Pick Pocket"... it fits, I think I'll keep it.

Only getting time to work on it over the weekends right now. This weekend will be spent with connecting the new batteries and getting to work on the engines. Good times.

Weeeeeeeeee!

Nice looking boat you have there, just to satisfy my curiosity, what kind of cranking power does a boat of this size require?
I like the name too, and I've been told it's bad ju-ju to rename a boat anyways.

Nah, you just have to follow the appropriate rules to appease Poseiden. The ceremony is actually a lot of fun. But I wouldn't change it either. That's one of the best boat names I've ever seen. Best of luck!

Very sweet but it wouldn't fit well on my 600acre lake. Lake Michigan is only 40min. away but I don't think I could afford the slip space either! Also that thing is almost as large as my house.

Gee whiz, that's a whole lotta glass. Congrats and good luck. And yeah, a slip at the cheap joint around here is $65/ft loa per year. More than my cheap a** would want to shell out. :faint:

Hello guys. Bringing back this older thread. Work travels took me a way for a bit so I opted to sell the Pick Pocket. Nine months later, the guy I sold it to was ready to get out of it. He had dumped quite a lot of money into it from what he says. Had the two 5.7 crusaders gone through, one new carb, transmission rebuilt, drive plate, gears aligned, new red dot heater, engine belts, hoses, impellers, etc. The interior looked like the day I bought it the first time. Sort of like a college dorm room with beer bottles, cigarettes, looked like a dog had eaten a pillow... and smelled about like it looked. Dogs and cigarettes.

So anyway, one year to the day of when I dropped it in the water last time, and it's mine again. I had to replace the counter rotating starter and solenoid again. It looked like it had been dropped in salt water during some of the engine work. So both engines are running nicely. I replaced the 1974 fresh water pump so the sinks have working water now.

I'm getting it ready to make the journey from Everett, WA to Tacoma, WA area. I should be up there to stay the night this weekend to let it run for a while, bang the gears a little and check the electronics to see what I can get to function properly. I have my membership to BoatUS Unlimited Gold sea-tow renewed... should be ok. lol

As for moorage, guess it depends on where you want to be. Up in Everett, the covered slip is costing me about 400 per month. Down in Tacoma, I can get a single 36' boathouse for $340. However, that's not in a nice marina with restaurants and showers. It's pretty much parking lot and docks. But it's a lot closer to the house and to the boats of other people I know.

So anyway... it's back.. .and picking my pockets.

Helo, for your sake I hope that "Christine" is not closer to what the boat wants for a new name

Bringing the thread back once again!! I am a new owner of a 1975 32' Fairliner like yours in the Tacoma area and would like to hear more about your boat!! There arent too many of the fiberglass Fairliners around! Anyways I hope you still have the boat after all of these years or know who does.... Thanks, Roger
