Chinewalking is where the boat is riding on mostly the keel and wants to flop over, right? It happens on mostly on high speed bassboats because they plane higher than other classes of boats, right? I'm not sure I fully understand the video.

The Yamaha didn't like the driver with the Evinrude PFD.8)

Just kidding.

Chine walk is the tendency of the boat to rock back and forth (side to side) on the "pad". The pad is the flat portion of that hull just ahead of the transom. It is accentuated by prop torque and engine height. It can also be caused by loose or soft engine mounts.

Getting a boat to "dance" on the prop alone is tricky, at best.

The trouble is that it can be very violent and can come on with little warning.

Ok, I saw the video but where are we headed from here? Was the intent to show those not in the know what chine walking is? Just curious.

So where was he running, in Tennessee in some of the strip mine waters cause he is doing a long run in pretty narrow stuff?

Did anyone see what his speedo was registering? Must have been Walleyehed cause obviously he was running a rude. 8)

thats what he gets for trying to catch up to me!! mine did that at about 70 as well. 16ft skeeter 140 merc. i molded in two extra chines just under the transom and i havent expierenced it again. gps at 73 baby! my dear ol dad about crapped himself when i took him out! hes an old fashioned fella! hes used to rowboats and the likes of little 30 hp engines. 3 secs and im on plane at 40. i took where the stringers run the bottom of the boat and molded up some foam. i then fiberglased over the foam and now its a wonderfull thing! my boat seems to like to ride on the back three ft of the hull so i concentrated the new ribs along that section of the hull. everything in it is foam and glass. from the stringers up. no stress fractures. i even filled the boat with water and three friends and i were on it with out sinking with no plug! thats a great feeling lemme tell ya. cause down here its wide open through the flats and you never know where its shallow, and just exactly when the tide is gone in a specific area! it holds no water as its exterior building foam so it wont rot either.

Hey Mr. Davis, is that Skeeter the deep V padded BB that skeeter first came out with? If so, that was quite an impressive hull. Friend of mine bought one about the time of the first fuel crisis and guys at work, having a hard time getting gas to go to work, were all P.O.'d at this guy for burning ("their") fuel in a BOAT of all things.

Is your Merc a Tower?

I guess you did scare pops at 73.

So where did you get the idea for your stabilizing chines?

its a power tower, my camera is down and i havent forked out the dough for another good one yet...its not a dsuper deep v but its not the super slim model either. i love it.. after almost plowing into the mangroves at 70mph, i decided to investigate what the problem was. i always knew of walking around but it almost did a dead 90 degree flop. within secs. so i had my good friend take it out while i watched him and the boat to see where it was riding at. i was goin to make a rudder of sorts but then started looking at the overall design of the hull. i figured that there were heavy turning chines to carve out in the water in hard corners so why not make a pair of chines on the bottom. so there it went. im always looking at things to see how they work. and i took a chance at it and it was gold money! i made them about 2inches thick by 3 inches wide. they are pretty heavy duty. and are fabulous. i love my skeeter.
