What is your favorite sailing/boating destination on any of the Great Lakes? Preferred marinas, cities, villages? Please share your experiences and offer some trip advice.
I love Georgian Bay but the weather can be really unpredictable and if there is a front coming in the fish shut down eating! I have to vote for the 1000 Island area of the St Larwence also! New York State has some wonderful campgrounds in that area and have primative cabins for around $200.00/ week. There is a campground that is water accessible only called Canoe Point that has great slips for your boat and tent sites as well as cabins. In-door bathrooms with showers. If you have a boat you can sleep aboard it doesn't get much better than that! It is not far from Welsley Island.
1000 ISLAND AREA! great camping and fishing ,Welleslly island NYSP great launch point or grass point on rt 12. word of caution..get a chart and use it. alot of prop shops in the area for a reason. Just follow the chart closly and you should be fine.
