Took my favorite Penn spinning reel to local sporting goods store to get new line. Dropped it on the way out and busted off part of the reel that attaches to the rod. (one of the two thingys that sticks out and goes under the rod to attach it.) Tackle store "dude" said you can't repair graphite. That is not acceptable to me!!!! Not willing to give up on this reel, dragged in too many fish over to many years to just replace it.

anybody know a good way to repair graphite? anyone tried superglue?

Any input is appreciated

Giddyup

Kramer

no problem.. i fixed many of 'em... but you have to find carbon fiber.. an can't say where to buy it... i have some ,, i build & fly r/c airplanes an bought some at a swap meet.. it's used on wing spars on race planes if not these new 'nelson ' engines will fold a wing in half.. go to google.com , a great search page ..type it in .. you'll find some .. don't need much an it's handy to have.. it comes in fibre stringy form or very thin soild sheet form i have both.. i'd get small sheet ... ok ,, first super glue the piece back together.. than epoxy on a strip of carbon cut to size..the whole lenght of the reel seat.. when cured over nite apply more epoxy on top of the carbon.. wait 3 days.. dare ya to break it off .. can't happen..

belay that ... superglue the carbon across the entire lenght of the reel seat .. NOT EPOXY.. but get the superglue at a hobby/craft shop .. trade names JET , ZAP, ect..they'll have thin medium thick buy medium..put glue on the reel seat.. than lay on the carbon piece.. wrap your finger in saran wrap... press finger down good on hold .. then rub finger back & forth good in hard pressure so it molds it to the concave of the reel seat..if it's not down 100 % superglue it some more an repeat.. then apply epoxy on top of everthing .. WHEW IAM TIRED..
