Take a look at the Garmin EchoMAP 53dv 5 CHIRP Fishfinder Chart plotter Preloaded LakeV252 HD with GT23-TM transducer .

Real CHIRP technology (80-160 kHz) and no extra maps required

yes i see that the HB dose not have more than a basic map, the lake view maps are 140 from HB so thats a much better deal

i got caught out last year in a nasty fog so its time to up date

The gt22-hw transducer would be better for "shallower" water

i went ahead and ordered one, i will look into the transducer, if i remember the one it comes with is for 350 feet, i dug a bit deeper and the one i ordered comes with the gt22-hw transducer and that will work fine, i fish mostly in 50 feet or less and the with the expection on one their 100 feet the one i slip my boat in is 35 feet

edit: the range is 500 feet not 350, sorry i have been reading and looking for the last 2 weeks, i am about cross eyed from reading

has nothing to do with depth. It's a trade off between depth and sensitivity/target separation. Not important if you don't fish
