I ran my 1200R waverunner on cheap oil, like $7.00 a gallon oil all season and now it has much less power and about 10 MPH slower. Has anyone else had this sort of problem before?

do you have power valves if so they may be stuck. some oil will not let them work properly, otherwise the oil dosent really matter as long as its tcw3

take them out and clean them up good some oils will gum those up and keep them from working properly, they should be cleaned every year any how, if they don't open properly the ski will loose power at top end, and it will be obvious

Hi, your boat has a catalyst and by using cheap oil it becomes fouled and will need to be replaced. You must use Yamalube 2W or any non-phosphorus oil. The cat is very expensive, check with Riva for a chip that is used when you remove the cat.

I was looking at the Riva site and I found the D-plate and instructions, I am going to take it apart tonight and see what it looks like in there.

Well, I took the exhaust apart tonight and the cat-con was stuck in the pipe. It dislodged from its bracket and got blown down the pipe. It looks pretty clean though.
