Well, actually the fishing has been terrable in comparison to last year at this time on this particular body of water. Other lakes in the area are conciderably better. We had very high water levels this last winter and the outlet washed out. The lake dropped about a foot a week for most of the summer. It`s lower than it has been for quite some time. Average depth I would say is about 12'. There is a lot of grass and I think the fish are scattered all over H*ll and back. Best fishing is out in the middle of coves along the new growth as there is weedgrouth starting where there never was before. Small baits, 3-4" Senko`s and drop Shotting is working decently.

Perfect time for putting out brush for next year, with all that new growth fishing should be great in the next two years unless mother nature takes its toll.

Actually, if you could see around the shoreline of this lake you would be absolutly amazed at the amount of junk on the shore and then there are willows that hang in the water when it`s high in the spring. It`s a flippin pitchin paradise. I wish that I could remember what I see and there is too much to take a picture of. What you say about the grass and small brush that grows as the water drops is just what makes this lake such a great fishery. It normally fluctuates about ten feet a year, but it can fluctuate as much as 14-15' which it is this year. Thankfully when they redid the boat ramps a couple of years ago, they extended them out or we would be dropping off the end by now.

So LubeDude, how went the tournament? What do you use?... where?... just kidding...

Wife got a new job as Staff Development Coordinator and Assistant Head Nurse in a large Nursing Home in Coos Bay last Month, and we have looked at 53 properties in Coos Bay, North Bend, Houser, Coquille, Green Acres, Etc....!!!!... Made offer on place in Lakeside today.

Real estate agent says there are Trout in them thar waters... is it true?

I have no interest in Bass fishing, caught one once, about 15" and it was like pulling in a boot compared to a Trout.

I just thought you might know, and share some of your knowledge of that lake... most of my fishing experience is in ocean.

Thanx in advance,
Eric

Welcome nieghbor. Yes, the ODFW make sure to keep the trouters happy. Earlier in the year there are some very nice trout caught here. Sorry your experience with the bass wass the way it was, I assure you that they do fight!

Here is a picture of the average shoreline we have here, imajine what it`s like when the water level rises just a bit.:^

The lake is at least 10' lower than in early spring and actually more like about 12'. I just took this picture Saturday morning.

Re: Gotta Love em!

. LOL... must keep the lure makers happy...

We are mostly wanting to just putter around the lake towing the canoe, exploring inlets and so. I'll use the boat for trolling for Trout, still fishing, and maybe try the Bass from the canoe... I know, not real exciting, but this is off time, not a job.

I worked salmon for 3 seasons when I was a kid and that cured me of bigger, better, and more... now a fish biting would be an imposition, a fight would be a chore 8)

Good yapping at you,
Eric
