This afternoon I had a bit of a scare but it seems to have worked out ok in the end which is all we can ask for. I was putting the Sea Eagle up onto a small private kayak ramp that we have access to the river from. I took a few steps up towards the bow to exit when I stepped in some moss that had been in the bottom of the boat. I feel backwards, stumbling some and my first thought was that if I fall, my Iphone gets wet. As with most people our phones have all our contacts and I'm one of those people who never thinks about backing it up until it's to late. As I'm falling into the water, I'm able to dig my phone out of my pocket and lob it towards the soft grass at the edge of the bank. It gets a bit wet as it's underwater for just a split second but no real damage was done. I don't know if any of my friends have ever seen me move that fast.

Re: Got super lucky

We went out today and the first thing I did was get my phone into a bag. No one fell so that's a positive day right there.

I guess it wasn't just moss. It was weeds from fishing, which if I remember, was all we caught that day.

Had to do the same thing. Was wading in to help my dad with his sailboat and realized my phone was in my cargo pants. Chucked it quickly up on shore as I was holding the boat and had no other option. I think that's the first time a situation like this turned out in my favor.

I have a small water tight pelican case. It cost me 14 bucks keeps my cell phone, keys, and wallet. I have seen to many boats sink with all that on board still. This thing will float if that is the case and all my important info will hopefully stay intact. A little piece of mind for 14 smackers is worth it to me.
