I finally got the deal done. 558 mile round trip to houston and back in 11 hrs. Now the work starts. Its a '86 model 21'. Im gonna have to replace every piece of wood in it including the transom. I guess its time to start researching threads.

MJ, As long as the hull is in good shape, you can make this boat anything you want. Looks to me like you have a good base to build something you're gonna really enjoy.

The snow's a meltin and I'm real close to rippin into my 89.

Keep us posted as you go and don't be afraid to ask questions!

Welcome to the starcraft club:)

Nice big hull you've got there, looks like a great candidate for a resto. Man those splashwell are huge on the mariners.

Good luck with the rig!

I had a '69 SS a few years ago that I rebuilt and then like a dummy I sold it. I have missed it ever since. The hull appears to be in great shape no dents or anyplace that looks bad. I'll learn the rest of the story when I get the floor and all the foam out of it.

Well it looks like we both have to follow NB on the rebuilds. Good looking boat to start a rebuild on. I think I may to replace the metal in the transom. I have been looking at tig welders and think I may order a new one and dig out the hood and practice on so aluminum to get back in tune with it. Just have a look at the photos in the thread I started.
