On my 1976 Johnson Seahorse 35hp, there is this breaded steel line that is connected through a fitting that is located just above the spark plugs right on the head. It goes from there out through the bottom part of the lower shell.

While we had it running it was blowing air out this. What exactly is it doing? Its not the pee hole because that is located further down on the lower unit. Any help be great.

Have no idea. Sounds like somebody's attempt to add a tell-tale for the water. I wonder why they used steel?

it sounds like the used one of those metal shielded faucet or toilet water lines, as a tale tell hose.

Im going to put the boat in the water today, and let it sit on the trailer while I mess with it. The Tell-tale looks like its on the lower unit then there is also this other line that comes from the head. Last night when we started it air was coming out, but we didn't run it long enough probably to get water to pump out, so maybe it has 2 tell tales? I will try and get pictures.
