The boat is a 87 phantom and i just got it from someone.Motor is a 305 mercruser. It leaks water in the back where the drive is.Is it hard to fix?:grumpy:2 the motor was running anout 210 220 temp when i was running it.Is it running hot? When i cut it off it made some hissing noise.I dont know much about inbords. And the last problem the longer it ran the more it cut off.Could it be cutting off because it was running hot.Like could it have a sutoff switch if it runs hot.Im a outbored man lol i gont now much about this but got it at a good deal.

Post some pics of your boat.

210 is way hot. I would start with changing the impeller and giving the engine a FULL tune up.

Probably uni or shift cable bellows. Hard to fix? For me, no. For you, I have no idea.. What is your mechanical experience, and how well can you follow a factory manual?

Yes. VERY hot. Normal operating temp is around 145-165 degrees.

We call that 'steam', and it shouldn't be doing that!

No shut-off switch for overheating. Need more information on the engine, like an engine serial number, to know what you have and what we need to be telling you... (doesn't matter what the boat is, we need to know about the engine.)

Did you? If it needs heaps of work, and the parts are expensive, I think that 'good deal' just went south....

0B581047 is your serial number, model number 02003347 which is a 87 motor called a 200 in the manuals.
It is a 305 Chevy as you know, with an Alpha I outdrive.

Re: got alot of questions and problems

For the overheat, I would suggest you remove the outdrive from the boat, split it and check the raw water pump. Also look into the exhaust bellows and see if you see any metal half moon shaped pieces.

Here is a couple of files to get you started. They are from the OEM manual just assembled in order so it's not so confusing.

And that, my friend, is where the water is coming into the boat at the back of the engine....
And the uni joint bellows don't look too healthy either... (the big one at the top)

Post your fuel sender question over in the electrical forum. This forum is only for your engine/drive systems.
