I am going to pick up my new 50hp e-tec tonight. I am excited to get out and see how it runs on my boat. I will let ya know how it goes tomorrow.

Re: Got a new E-tec

I haven't really had a chance to get it out and really play with it yet but I did take it over to the river for a little bit after I picked it up.

I am very happy with how quiet the motor is and how smooth it runs. Like others have said it does have a slight vibration at idle, but its not too bad.

There is one thing that I am wondering about, when I was running at planned out speeds if I didn't have it trimmed to a certain position it would pull kind of hard to the left. This is a tiller control motor, the owners manual says something about adjusting the trim tab if this is happening. It doesn't do it all the time, just going fast and if it isn't trimmed to, I guess I would call it the sweet spot. I havn't had a chance to call up my dealer to ask him about it yet, but I thought I would see if you guys had any input on this.

I would also like to thank everyone on this site for the info on the e-tec motors before I made the purchase... this is a great site, with lots of knowledge!!!

Those motors turn pretty large props so torque steer may be noticeable at higher speeds. As was suggested, adjust the trim tab.

Diver, my 50 tiller did the same thing...big time! The trim tab adjustment did the trick. But at different trim levels, you'll still get a little pull. Good luck with your new e-tec. I really like mine so far.

Trout
