Just put a new water pump in my alpha 1 unit and now I have a leak. I put a new O-ring on the vertical drive shaft and everything and now I see fluid seaping down the shaft. Is it possible that I have over filled the units? Is this O-ring designed to keep the fluid in? I am at a loss here.

The O ring was supposed to keep water out of the spline area, has nothing to do with oil leakage,There is a second seal used to seal the oil in.#30 is the oil seal that rides on #25 .
#29 rides on the lower driveshaft

Pardon my ignorance but I am not familiar with the number references you are using, do you have a link to the diagram you are looking at?

And judging by the looks of things this is going to be a nightmare to fix. Loos like you have to pretty much do a complete tear down to get to it.

Just a bit, need to remove the input shaft assem, using the tool to loosen and tighten the nut, 4 top cap bolts and cap, drive old seal out and drive new seal in, re-assemble, fill with oil.
Just bring it on over

I guess while I am in there I might as well just put a seal kit in it, well thank you for the info. Always a pleasure hearing it from the pros before you dive in blind!
