i GOT THIS PUPPY REALLY DIALED IN, TOP END IS AS GOOD AS YOU WILL EVER GET WITH THIS MOTOR. i LIKE THE FEEL OF IT. DROPPING JUST A TAD MORE OFF THE TRANSOM ,MADE ALL THE DIFFERENCE IN THE WORLD.
NOW FOR MY SECOND ISSUE IS IDLE SPEED WAY TOO FAST 1350 RPM'S . THIS IS MY NEXT PROJECT?? AS SOON AS i LEARN HOW TO ADJUST, NOT A CLUE HOW TO DO.... COMMENTS PLEASE:confused::happy: oH BY THE WAY THE TINY TECH DOESN'T SEEM VERY GOOD. CAN I PUT A CLIP ON THE WIRE TO GET A TIGHT FIT, WRAPPING IT AROUND ISN'T GOOD AT ALL.. ?????

Yes... so now you see that the jack height is very very important. Glad you got it setup!

We use a "real" shop tach to adjust idle; you will need to contact TinyTach about how to use theirs. Odds are that as long as the pickup wire is in close proximity to the plug wire, it will work.

The idle speed is adjusted after the motor is fully warmed, and you need to verify both in-neutral speed and in-gear speed, in the water (not just on a hose). There is one spring-loaded screw (only) that adjusts the idle stop on the carb. Clockwise will increase the idle speed.

You want to verify that the cold-idle screw (the one with the locknut) above the idle stop screw is not interfering with the idle stop screw adjustment. Notice that the cold-idle screw is supposed to advance the throttle only when the choke is operated. When fully warm, with the choke off, the cold-idle stop screw should not be advancing the idle. Also verify that the throttle rod has some free slack in it when the motor is at idle, so that it is not advancing the idle The the sole determining factor in the idle speed is to be the idle stop screw.

Refer to your FSM (Factory service manual) for the specs. In-gear warm idle should be below 1000... 1350 is pretty fast.

Thanks again, and YOU were really right on with the Transom height , rigging etc. I would have never guessed how important that is...So again thanks . Your a true friend..

Try electrical tape or a plastic wire tie to keep the inductive wire tight on the plug wire after wrapping it securely.
Not sure, but a metal clip might cause interference or loss of signal?

Very cold weather coming my way, so; I'll have to wait to see , no fishing for this One Lung Guy when it's 17 degrees. need about 30 degrees. I'm not really concerned about the motor now that it really does the job .my Rigging was totally wrong, some day I'll listen more to the younger guys??? But a funny thing happened yesterday while coming in to my dock the rpms went down to 1080, but then slowly back to 1330??
