Good service manual recommendations and need to find model #

I am about to buy a service manual for my 1979 or 1981 115 HP Johnson V4 2-stroke outboard. I found the Seloc 1973-1991 60 to 235 HP Johnson/Evinrude repair manual. But...all of the reviews are bad for this manual on amazon. Most of them say they didn't even mention their engine at all in the whole book and that there are missing figures in the book.

Is there a better one out there? Is there one that just covers a specific engine?

Also, I need to find the model # of my engine, so I can tell exactly what year it is. My title says 1981, but the engine manual that came with the boat says 1979. Where on the engine can I find a number? Underneath the cowl on the front? Thanks.

The model number should be on a metal tag affixed to the transom bracket, probably on the port side. Factory service manual reprints can be found at outboardbooks.com.

You were right...thanks. Found the model # and serial # on transom mount-port side. Turns out it is a 1981. Thanks. Wow, ken cook's service manual is $90 for that model. I may have to go with the Seloc instead since it's only $25 or I'll email that guy from ebay that was suggested. Thanks for everyone's help.
