Thinking about upgrading to a 2002 Honda 4 stoke 50hp, from a 1982 30hp evenrude found it on Craigslist for 1400 with controls. Couldn't really find anything online to confirm if this is a good price. Didn't see it in person but supposedly taken off a fresh water pontoon boat. Just seeing thee feedback. So let's say it's in pretty good condition. The owner said he could do the swap over himself so I'm thinking he would address any issues it had. Thanks all.

Those engines regularly sell for about $2000 so as long as it's on good condition I'd say it's an excellent deal. Two things to look for, those ends lower unit seal design is not the best but are quick easy and inexpensive to fix so check for water in the lower unit lube. Also the carburetors are sensitive to old or bad gas and if you don't maintain it properly they could be issues and you will not be able to clean them yourself without a big investment in time and tools. So make sure you run the engine and it idles properly.

When running the engine on a water hose make sure to block off the intake screen on the bottom of the cavitation plate, if you dont you will damage the impeller and housings.
