About a year ago I posted a question about repairing gelcoat cracks and got various responses from live with it to seal er up to expect to get soaked for a professional repair.

After trying the live with it option all summer I couldn't bear looking at it any more. So, I dropped into my nearest Scout dealer who didn't know me from Adam as I had bought the boat used privately a thousand miles away, showed him the dreaded hairline cracks in the floor between the dual consoles and asked for an estimate to fix.

He said leave it with him then called me a week later to say although the boat is a) out of warranty, and b) the warranty never covered gelcoat cracks (structural only was covered) Scout is going to pick up half the cost of repairing it. They're also shipping up a special batch of gelcoat from South Carolina mixed to the right tint for the boat (which is a creamy off-white and probably a nightmare to colour match by hand).

Haven't seen the results yet but that kind of customer service just blows me away. Just wanted to post a good news dealer story for a change. Now...everyone run out and buy a Scout!...hee hee.

Sounds like their Customer Service is about as good as their boats. :)
