Are you looking for fishing, water sports, hanging out with the family or all the above?

Check out Possum Kingdom Lake, always a good time in the past. Might want to look into before heading out there though with all the fires around it. Central TX has Stillhouse Hollow. Joe pool is an OK lake, but a lot of bigger boats.

Joe Pool is my normal lake as it is only minutes away. There are two parks and one mariana all with good ramps and all cost a ten spot to lauch. Weekday evenings theres not much traffic and you can usually find calm water. Weekends different story!!

I've also done lake Lavon and Ray Hubbard. At Hubbard I had trouble finding good water because of the boat traffic. I hear there are some lower traffic spots but I could not find any. Last year Hubbard had Thrusday concernt nights by the movie plex. There is also a bass pro on the water and some places to stop and eat.
Lake Lavon was nice, had nice boat ramps and I found nice water around the dam area.

On my wish list for this year is Brazo's river where it runs into Grandbury lake, I hear that is always great water.

I was thinking about buying some property on Richard Chambers lake, what is your opinion of it?

Richland Chambers is a really nice lake GREAT FISHING if you like to fish, its pretty big too! thats usually where we go! The Game wardens that patrol the lake can be kinda nit-picky at first just respect them and after the third or fourth time they usually just wave and dont even bother you. I would recommend you looking into it.

cheers

i have been to possum kindom when i was much younger and it was a blast, but you are right i heard the fires destroyed all the scenery, obviously the lake will still be there but its pretty dead all around it. I think we actually gonna head to joe pool this weekend! hey im willing to check em all out lol

cheers
and happy boating

Do not fish. Water sports only. I want a lake that are not that busy on weekends.

We put our boat at the Marina yesterday. Not going to visit many lakes this year.

Lake Travis is nice in my opinion. It can be busy but there are a lot of little coves you can hide away in and play. Lake Conroe is where my boat is at, its not bad but a little rough when everybody is on it.

Texoma is my lake of choice. There are always alot of boats however the lake is so big that it is never "crowded". The islands are great for hanging out and the sand beaches are my kids favorite part. Plenty of places to drive up and eat or restock the cooler.

We love Lake Lavon simply because it isn't as crowed as the other "Party lakes" in the region i.e. Texoma, Hubbard, Lewisville, and there aren't nearly as many drunks screaming WOT through the lake.

Whenever I 've gone to Texoma, Hubbard or Lewisville, I've ALWAYS had problems on those lakes with the drunks almost hitting us.

That's just my experience. If you have small kids, stay away from those lakes...I do.

We slip the boat at Lynn Creek Marina on Joe Pool...
It's a pretty good lake that is 5 minutes from the house.

As far as other lakes... Possum Kingdom and Lake Whitney are FANTASTIC lakes. The brazos on the top side of Whitney is the best watersports in the state.

We are going to whitney this weekend to a buddies lake house. Gotta pull the boat tomorrow to get the crud scrubbed off for the trip.

Be sure to keep an eye on water levels at Travis. it's not constant level so with the drought it's LOW right now. I was out there last week and was hearing that if we don't break this drought soon they may close all the ramps.
