Use the site Scott listed, find the part number then google the part. I do like Mercruiserparts but they are rarely the best price/shipping. I wish iboats would carry OEM parts

Thanks for the replies guys. That is what I was doing and with a Google search 99 percent of the results are aftermarket with the mercruiser number in the heading. I don't want ebay bellows and bearings due to all the labor involved. Flashlight batteries? Sure. That's why I posted the question. The starter on a 4.3 L is difficult to install. Ebay 59.00. Quicksilver 219.00. What's a man to do. Lol

A good alternator / starter shop can rehab your current starter for about $50

I looked into that for my 2000 3.0 mercruiser w high torque starter and could not find any shop to do it. When I was a young man u either rebuilt your own or walked. Now I couldn't find brushes. Called Brunswick marine and they stated they are non seviceable. So I paid 289 plus tax for a new one since I couldn't find a quad brush ring assembly. I wish I knew a place I would do just that. Thanks

Guys I did find a rebuild shop thru a mechanic shop They had it done in two hours and cost 119.00. Seems pricy to me. Clean, lube, paint, new solenoid. Thanks

My rebuild shop was about the same.... what are you gonna do, I'd rather see a small business get it... everything either gets more expensive these days or it gets made cheaper so it costs less.

Here's your drive and transom assembly parts, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/selectSerailRange.asp?doc_nbr=R/MR/ALPHA+ONE+(Sterndrive)+1983-1990

And here's your engine parts, http://www.mercruiserparts.com/selectSerailRange.asp?doc_nbr=4.3L++(2+BBL.)++++GM+262+V-6++1988-1992

And you're able to view and order internal parts for some starters such as these from your parts catalog linked above,

Roger that Captain. I totally 100 percent agree. Seem like a little while ago was indeed 30 years ago. Lol

I struggled. I could only get a trim assembly to show up it was weired. This is great. Exactly what I need. I appreciate the time you spent to help me with this.
I am trying to bring this boat back to a dependable trouble free craft. I have always used OEM except one time I used Sierra and the part failed. It's the only time I got stranded in 40 years of boating. That's not because I use OEM it's because of continuous high level of maintenance.
