I posted this under the mercury seciton probably not a good place for it....So ive been going through a divorce for well over a year..of course one of the first things i lost was my boat to her... its a 1991 18ft bass tracker with a 1991???? mercury black max that ran great when i last used it but has been sitting outside for the past 2 years...Long story short she is behind on child support about 1500 dollars and I thought about offering if she gave me the boat motor trailer then we would wipe the slate clean and start over.. I know i would have to go through the motor but it would be a winter project for me since i own a pontoon that i use all the time... What do you guys think is it a good deal or should i just wait until she pays me money?

If you had the money in your pocket, could you replace that rig for $1500 or less ? Something to think about.

Probably not, plus I've caught alot of fish out of this boat back in the day...I'm sure if i offer she will turn it down just to spite me.

Re: Good deal???

The divorce and child support days... I remember them well, although I was on the other end of the checkbook, and my ex worked for a law office! I would suggest you open some dialog with her about the arrearage and how that would ultimately cost her more legal fees and possibly an embarrassment at work with garnishment. You want to try to work something out, and ask her what she has to offer in trade and money to catch up. When she mentions the boat, you can say that you miss it, but there are plenty out there on the market now, since the season is ending and it has been a buyer's market for quite some time. Human nature is simple. The more you push away, the more they lean in. The more you pull in, the more they pull away. You may get your boat back for a lot less, and money to boot! Food for thought....
