Good deal or Pass?

I recently ran across a pair of 1995 Sea Doo GTX's on a tandem trailer. The guy has no idea what he has and told me I could have them for 400.00. The engine is out of one of them, but does come in the sale. The trailer needs minor welding, and from what I can tell, both skis need carbs rebuilt, wear rings, steering cables and cosmetic work. Not alot of cosmetic work, but some dings and scratches. So judging from this description, should I jump on them or pass on the deal?

Thanks
Tony

well 400 isn't a big amount of money for 2 older skies and a trailer, but you may want to see what you will have invested in them when they are finally in the water running. why is the engine out did it hatch?? you can always recover the investment by parting them out or even taking the 2 and making 1 good one so I don't see a issue with the price. actually a decent 2 place trailer is worth 400

Well, I was told that the previous owner wanted to rebuild the carbs on that one, but was having a difficult time removing the carbs so he just pulled the engine. Who knows though. They both seem to have good compression. I poured some oil into the engines and spun them over with a hot battery. Seems good. Think I may go ahead and take them.

sounds like a pretty good deal. you should be able to get your money out of them if need be by parting them out. estimate how much you think it will cost to get em going and then multiply by 2... thats my formula for restorations:)
