I'm going to buy a new 5hp shortshaft; 2 stroke or 4 stroke? I'm leaning toward Honda and Nissan. I would love to hear some feedback before I decide.

Ahoy, Joe. If light weight and lower price are highest priorities, go 2 stroke.

If smoothness, quiet, clean, no-smoke and reliability come first, go 4 stroke.

Good luck.
Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

I would go with a 4 stroke if you plan on keeping it more than a few years and using within the US. It seems that 2 strokes are going to be banned in more and more area's in this country due to the pollution they can cause.

Joe,
WOW, some really bad stuff has been posted on another board about Nissan outboards. I would REALLY be careful before buying one. Have a great boating season, Bill
