Well I'm finally able to take out the boat on monday.....I got it registered and I'm going over everything on the boat to make sure everything is in working order. I'll be heading to long level at the public launch. I figure it's not going to be crowded and I should be able to take my time and go over my checklist to make it an enjoyable event. I would hate to forget something and something goofy to happen like forget to put the plug in! It's been awhile since I've lauched a boat. I have a 23' maxum cuddy cabin with a venture trailer with bunks. It should be interesting! :):):):)

Psyched!!! Good for you!
If you arent' sure of the boat's ability drive around the launch area for a while.
You brought a paddle and some line right?
Maybe you can reverse "Murphy's Law" which states "anything that can go wrong will" by being completely prepared.
And, if all goes well you might want to practice your vessel handling, launching, retrieving, backing. Have a great time!

I just went thru the anxieties you are expierencing. I've been working on and running boats for many years...but that didn't help. We launched an old 1974 last week that hasn't been run in over 2 years with some shoddy workmanship. After a small adjustment to the shaft packing we have been having a great time. After 25 hrs. appears we have only a small problem. Made it back to the dock everyday.:) I hope your sea-trial goes as good as ours.

Well it won't happen today! While doing my last safety check when I hooked up the trailer.....I looked at the brake line (flexible) coming off the coupler/master cylinder it and found a tear in the rubber and it was crimped/smashed. No fliud was leaking from the line but it looks like with any pressure or heat build up it might fail. I know it definetly has flow restriction to the brakes. I was upset at first but reality set in and felt blessed that I found it before going on the road and had brake failure, hurt my family or others. The route I take to Long Level (route #441) has some decent hills and curves. Hopefully if the weather holds out I can still get out. I'm going to haul it up to the marina to get it checked out. The marina/dealer is only 1/2 mile from my house. :(:(:(

Re: Going to splash the boat for the 1st time!

I'm sorry, I forgot to tell you how I think it happened....When I brought the boat home I was caught in a terrible rain/wind storm. It was so bad that debris was all over the roadway I ran over some huge tree limbs and ripped out my trailler lights.... I guess I didn't notice the damage to my brake line.:confused::confused::confused:

I can't think of a better place for a trial run than Long Level. Good luck for when you finally get out. You should update your profile with your location as not too many of us, other than me, will have any ideal where Long Level is :p:D
