Checking for continuity after cutting the old one off is kind of like amputating a limb to determine if the bone is broken...so that's not such a good plan, IMO. I'd recommend checking each terminal of the plug for voltage BEFORE you cut it off (obviously with the appropriate lights and turn signals on, etc.) so you can actually diagnose the problem. What is actually wrong with it beyond "doesn't work?"<br /><br />Even if it does need to be replaced, there's new T-connector wiring harnesses available for every 2002 GMC truck in any type of plug you might want to have. A local Uhaul store, NAPA or similar place will be able to set you up with a plug N play replacement, no wire cutting necessary (assuming your problem is actually in the plug as you seem to suspect.) Or do a Google search for "GMC Sierra trailer wire harness" and many on-line suppliers will pop up for you.
