I have a rebuilt gm 2.5l out of a 76 fiberform and got a 82 seaswirl with a 3.0 engine that has water in the oil but no drive the bell housing look and measure the same. Can I take the 2.5l 120hp engine and 120hp outdrive and bolt it up to the 82? The electrical might be my biggest challenge? The 82 is cable shift control and the 76 is electric that the other question can I just swap shift control units?

If the 1976 boat has a low profile drive, should be an easy swap. Externally the 2.5L and 3.0 are the same.
If the 76 drive is high profile, the prop will be 4" too low in the water and the boat will porpoise and plow.
Yep - just take the electric shifter and move it with the drive over to the 82 boat.
