Does anyone know if the GM 2.5L 4CYL engine in my boat (OMC) is the same as a chevy car engine 4CYL 2.5L from the same year? I need to replace the oil pan gasket and timing chain gasket. Can I use these from an Auto parts store made for a 1982 2.5L Chevy Celeberty?

I'm pretty sure it is NOT the same. I had a cracked block and found the celebrity engine was different.

Oil pan and front gaskets may be different in a front wheel drive car-Celebrity.

More than likely they're the same as S-10.

Well - thus far I have tried gaskets and seals from a celeberty as well as rod and main bearings. Only the timing gasket and oil pan gasket is the same the rest would not work. Had to order special...

They are two completley differant motors. You need to go back quite a few years to find a chevy 153 cu.in. block. Early-mid sixties?? In automotive stuff.
