What is best glue or sealer, to use to put a transducer in? For through the hull, mounted inside boat.

Thank You David C Sr.

Re: Glue

My Lowrance said to use quick setting (5 min) epoxy. That's what I did last summer and it has been OK.

Also had to sand the area a little with sand paper and then wipe it off with alcohol, and then sit and press on the transducer for 5, while it set.

Re: Glue

30 minute epoxy works the best. The additional time allows for the bubbles to come to the surface before it hardens

Re: Glue

Yep, the longer the curing time the better. I have had good luck using a piece of cardboard curved into the shape of a cylinder. I set it against the glass and fill with epoxy (this creates a nice thick "bed"). After a few minutes when the epoxy starts to thicken I press the transducer down into the epoxy.

Has worked great so far.

Re: Glue

I agree slow cure Epoxy. Bubbles are not wanted so mix slow. The slow cure allows the air bubbles to get out.
