Steve Fossett just landed in Salinas, KS, where he took off from about 66 hrs ago. Round the world solo in a single engine aircraft....neato.
Ha was about a hundred miles out and seemed to think he was within gliding distance should he run out of fuel. They lost about 2600 lbs of fuel near the beginning of the flight. Must have an awesome glide ratio!

Dave

Good deal. Yesterday they were wondering if they were too low on fuel and determined that the gauges were faulty. Glad to hear he made it

I remember a plane very similar to this a while back that did a similar trip. Might have had 2 pilots? Anyone remember the name?

Voyager was the name of the first plane flown nonstop around the world. It was also built by Rutan of scaled composites, like this one, like spaceship one, in other words, he builds really cool stuff.
There were two crewmembers on board, **** Rutan and Jeana Yeager. It was also a twin engine prop. This one today was a single engine turbine.
