Friends, I read recently that Glen Campbell had entered an "assisted living" center . Learning this made me feel old because I recall when he was first popular. What makes me feel even older is when I asked my 30 year old son had he heard about Glen Campbell he said "Glen who?" gez

He did. As the Alzheimer's has taken a more firm grip, he's needed more help. He's got family around him though, and they seem to be very active in helping him. It's all kinda' public here around Nashville.

Last couple years or so he was playing a lot of shows (as many as he could handle) as a sort of "farewell." Very upbeat guy. And a great musician.

It's a shame what old age does to the body, but even more so what it does to the brain. It robs you of your personality :blue:

CBS Sunday Morning ran a very enjoyable piece on him a year or two ago. It was touching to watch his daughter stand beside him on stage and help him keep up with the set list. I remember thinking what a pretty young lady she was and that she was a 50/50 mix of her parents.

I read somewhere that his daughter had been playing banjo opposite him in recent years in order to help him on the tour, he would forget the song order, without her his tour probably wouldn't have happened at all. She said that he never forgot the songs just the order in which they were to be played, she may be the reason he lasted this long without assisted living.

Most people don't realize his accomplishments. He was a studio musician on many, many albums. He was a beach boy at one time. Outsold the beatles in 1969. Played guitar and sang backup on Frank Sinatra's Stranger in the Night. Acted next to John Wayne in True Grit. 81 songs in the charts.

I encourage anyone who didn't see the CBS Sunday Morning piece to Google it. Well worth a few minutes of your time.

"LaBouef, you get cross ways of me and you'll think a thousand of BRICK hath fell on you! You'll wish you was back at the Alamo with TRAVIS!"

One of my all time favorite movies.
