Hi everyone,

I just wanted to let all of you in on what kind of service I recently got from Glastron. I have a 1987 Glastron Conroy X-19 that I intend to restore this winter or spring. The boat is in excellent shape except for the transom, floor, and stringer system. All the wood must be replaced. Well, to make a long story short, I called Glastron around Dec. 20-22 and to my surprise, I got a human. They answered the phone right off the bat. Funny thing was, when she said "Glastron boats, how may we help you today?" I didn't say anything. I was waiting for the computer say something else. Then to my surprise, it was a live human being. She quickly patched me through to the master technician and I asked him if they still had the original diagrams and if it would be possible for me to get a copy of them. He said he wasn't sure if they still had them, but if they did he would mail me some copies. Two days ago I look in the mail box and there is an envelope with not only the diagrams I needed, but it even showed the assembly methods. He also included a business card with all his info on it and wrote that if I needed anything else just let him know. I just felt I should pass this on. I know that whenever I decide to buy a new boat, Glastron will be the first company I look to :D :D .

James

Wonder if they still have the info for my '76's :D

In reality, they also have a gentleman by the name of Jerome that is wonderful about helping out with info on the older ones.

Jason I guess all you can do is ask. When I asked him about mine, he said he wasn't sure if they would still have them. He said that everything may not have made the transfer from Texas to Minnesota. Good Luck.

James

WOW!! A real, live human being! Courteous and prompt service!

What an innovative idea. Sure would be nice if more "Customer Service" departments would return to that approach. Once upon a time it was the only approach.

I can't tell you the number of companies that have driven me to their competition with those @#$%^&* computerized buck-passing recordings.

For what it is worth, Chuck Bennet (a real, live human being) at Boston Whaler treats every caller like a personal friend and also goes the extra mile to resolve problems and answer questions.

That's two out of how many hundreds of companies?

I agree. Reward their service with brand loyalty. :)

I'm glad to hear that Glastron sees fit to be good at customer service. That means alot to me and many others.

However, as a society, studies show, that Americans really do not care about customer service. Price, price and price are what drives American buying habits.

I really saw that this year, in my line of business. Customers that were 100% loyal and overjoyed with our service bought elsewhere this year, because of price and price alone. Some were even embarrassed to admit it.

Re: Glastron's Customer Service!!

LOL Mole. I know I probably overexaggerated it a little  . Compared to my last project though, this one IS in excellent shape. All of the seats are good, no vinyl tears. the engine and drivetrain are also in fairly decent shape. There are some things that need to be worked out (like the u-joint problem I posted before), but other than that nothing really that major. After that all I'll have to do to get it back on the water again is to replace the wood in it which, according to those diagrams, will be extremely easy. The transom design is such that I won't even have to remove the deck cap from the boat to replace it. I only have $800 in it so far and hopefully it won't cost more than $500-1000 to restore. Djohns, I've slao heard that before. It's ashame that that's how it is. I prefer to reward the company with my loyalty if they have good service. There's one sure fire way to keep me away from a company and that's bad customer service. Suds' post has definitely turned me away from Craparrel. Especially after the confirmation from the guy who went to the boat show. Glastron Pics

James

Jee, I actually know someone that has most, if not all, of the stuff for one of my boats. Since my two 'trons came from the Texas plant, they may or may not have them. I already have a source though. BTW, your X-19 looks VERY similar to my 195.h

Re: Glastron's Customer Service!!

jee70611 - In 1975 I came into a 1970 19' Glastron that had been repoed as fall out from a divorce. Ended up paying $375 for boat, motor & teailer. All the motor needed was a set of keys. I ran it for 7 years before putting a new floor, stringers & seats in it. Repowered it and ran it for another 8 years for a total of 15. It dragged my family (wife & 3 kids) all over south Florida & it was still running when I sold it. Great boat!

Re: Glastron's Customer Service!!

Hi James,

Googling on 'glastron classic services' your message on this forum was one of the hits. Maybe you can help me. I'm living in the Netherlands and own a '83 Glastron SSV 177. It's a hell of a job to get parts for this boat in my country. Now I'm looking for a specific part for this boat. Do you have the emailadres of the 'human being' you've contacted with or maybe you have other contacts that I can try?
Kind regards, Edwin NL

This will be a long shot as that was almost 8 years ago... I cannot wait to see what happens on this one.
