Glastron Depth Sounder Mount

Looking to see what other 2003 (or close) Glastron SX 195 owners have done to install a depth sounder. I don't really need a full fishfinder, but I seem to be having trouble determining where to put a 2" gauge on the dash or close to it.

It seems that the only thing missing from my dash is an hour meter and a depth sounder. I can fix the hour meter by replacing my tach with a combo one... no problem.

Thoughts on a depth sounder that has worked well?

Thanks

Re: Glastron Depth Sounder Mount

Not sure if this will help, but I have an '01 Glastron 175 with just a depth finder. See the pics for how it is mounted (depth finder is the blue thing).

I find the Uniden depth finder OK. It is accurate for depths under 40' or so, but is not accurate beyond that. I can live with it as long as it is accurate in the more shallow depths, which it has been. I might be able to adjust the sensitivity a little more, but it took awhile to get it accurate for shallow depths, and now I don't want to mess with it anymore.

Good luck!

Re: Glastron Depth Sounder Mount

Looks like the dash is generally the same layout, just slightly different steering wheel, etc. I thought about putting it above the kill switch, but didn't know if there was enough room. Looks like there is.

Did you compare the Uniden to other ones, like the Faria, etc?

Also, did it come with the "white" angle piece that I can see in the first pic, or is that how you mounted it (ie: does it not go all the way into the hole, or did you mount angled, etc?)

Thanks

I haven't compared the Uniden to any other depth finders - my boat came with that one. It does go through a hole in the dash, and I'm pretty sure that the piece of PVC was fabricated for my dash. Here is the manual, and installation instructions, if you want. Looks like the whole unit is 2 1/2" deep.

Someone else posted recently about the same Uniden depth finder in the Electronics folder. You could try sending him a PM and see how he likes it?

I'll be happy to answer any other questions.
