That is the worst way to go. I have a friend and her mother is 64 and is going through this. Though not bed bound, her health is getting poorer by the day. Major heart attack, two stroket etc. Smoked her entire life. I thought she was in her late 70's early 80's when I first saw her. I was floored when I learned that she was 64. Sad way to go.

Yep, I know a person who smoked a lot that ended up like that. Moral of the story, don't smoke.

We lost Mamma back in November. She didnt smoke but had dementia and it was progressing at a pretty fast rate. Her health was good until at the end of last august when she fell and broke her hip. She never recovered from that. She quit eating and the doctors wanted to do the tube down the nose for feeding but Mamma had a 'Living Will' which plainly stated she didnt want any measures other than to be kept comfortable.

Had it not been for that living will Lord only know what she and our family would have had to endure. She led a good and full life and was 90 when she passed away.

Mother in law died from smoking related kidney cancer last May, lung capacity below 20%, was living with us towards the end, gesturing for smokes whenever the morphine wore off if she actually woke up, she could not really talk by then. One of our kids came to help and could only take a couple of days of watching that, was not something people should have to go through.

Heinz,

I'm doing it with Chanitx and have been off the med for about 30 days now. I'm shocked at how the craving is still there!! I figured I would be well past that now, but with a very stressed lifestyle, I guess this is normal. GF still smokes, and so does just about everyone I know!! I haven't slipped, don't plan on slipping, wouldn't waste all that effort on starting up again. I don't care to be that guy anymore. Good luck to anyone who elects not to smoke!!
I bet it will eventually become easier, I hope this occurs soon. Best tool is wanting to be a non smoker!!
