Hey Guys:

I have a 1981 Glastron SSV194 with a MerCruiser 228hp (305 CID). I took the boat into the shop today to get the Gimbal Bering replaced and the lower shift cable. The lower shift cable end is rusted, so it looks like he might need to break the cable and replace the plastic end that fits in the drive to shift gears. The main problem though is the Gimbal Bering will not come out. He tried for at least an hour and a half with the slide hammer and it didn't even budge. He says that there isn't a retaining ring in there. What else could be keeping it from coming out? He's going to try and get a different puller that bolts to the Gimbal housing and an impact wrench pulls it out. I have a picture of it and as soon as my camera charges, I'll upload it.

Any ideas why it's not moving with the slide hammer??

Thanks, Craig

i had to use heat on my 74 bayliner to warm the outer ally housing up and a good puller got it moving.Would not budge b4 this and i felt i was pulling the boat and trailer down the street.
