gimble assembly mounting..

I just rebuilt the transom on a 77 nova 250 and am putting the gimble/transom assemblies back on..ordered new o-rings for it (where the assembly meets the hull) do I want to use any kind of sealant on it?? if so what?? rtv?? 4200?? caulk?? thanks.

Personally I wouldn't use a sealant on the o-rings. However, I would recommend using some silicone lubricant gel be put on the rings before the install. It will give a good seal.<br /><br />Welcome to iboats. This is a great forum to help you along as you get your rig together.

Use sealant on absolutely everything to do with the transom ... all holes bolts etc ... any silicone will actually work, but try to use a clear cilicone, you can by marine cilicone at any hardware shop ....
