I have a 93 four winns with a 5.0 and OMC Cobra drive. Even I trim all the way down I get a vibration sound but if I trim up a little bit its quiet as a church mouse and runs great. Also I get the sound when I turn either direction. When running straight it's silent. I'm thinking gumball bearing but I was told the gimbell will always always make noise if it's going bad. I'm trying to decide if I can make it thru the week long holiday before I have to have it done. I won't pulling anything (tubes boarders) during the week. Just easy cruising. Can it wait? And is it gumball with what I described.

Definitely first place to look is gimbal bearing and ujoints. If water is in there probably both are an issue

Can it wait hard to tell from my keyboard. Never let one go that far to locking up .

Only way to know for sure is to pull the drive and inspect.

You could try pumping some/a lot of grease in the gimbal bearing zirc and see if the noise changes/goes away

Or you could pull the drive and get eyes and hands on
