Need to replace a janky gimbal bearing. I have the tool, but its not drilled for the installation mandrel, that is left to the "installer" to deal with. What I need to know is where on the shaft does the hole get drilled to put that part on? I checked the FAQ section, but I did not find this dimension in there.

Good news is that the engine and old gimbal bearing are in perfect alignment, so at least when I get the new one in, I wont be fighting a phantom issue, if its "off", I know its the damn bearing thats out of whack.....

Doesn't much matter, needs to sit on the fat part of the bar, but far enough forward that the bar won't bottom out in the coupler before the bearing is in. I didn't have a drill press handy and just put some hose clamps on there to keep it from sliding (drilling is better).

The way they suggest and I did mine was before pulling out the old bearing, slid driver on alignment bar, inserted alignment bar till it bottomed out in coupler. Pushed driver to the bearing and pulled bar back out 1/4 - 3/8" . Push driver against bearing again, without moving bar and marked bar where driver sat.

Removed bar and driver and marked pin hole on bar with driver sitting on line. Drilled hole in a drill press.

Worked perfect.
