Gill Net /Spot net

I live on a tidal creek about 1 mile from the Intracoastal. I’m considering trying out a gill net this fall to catch flounder, spot & drum. I’m sure I’ll need to purchase some type of commercial license and am researching that as well. Has anyone ever used a gill net or spot net on a tidal creek? My concern is the water depth, at low tide it’s down to 1-3 feet and would create a hazard to any jon boat passing through. I live far enough up the creek that I only expect an occasional boat to pass. I may need to anchor up and stay with the net rather than leave it unattended. Any input or experiences are appreciated.
