Where do i begin. I have an 88 FourWinns Sundowner 205. It has a 4.3 6 cylinder. It has an omc conbra outdrive.
Hi guys. I just went to change my gear case fluid and when I cracked the nut to drain the fluid, it came out milky white. So I think i must have some water coming through somewhere. I did some reserach and think it could be a number of things
First of it could be the bellows. If it is how hard is it to fix this problem. How exspensive is it to fix. I have some mechanical appitude, but is this job for a professional.
Second someone told me it could be the u joints. Im not sure though. Im just trying to get some ideas so i dont try to fix my self when this is a big job, and it seems like it is.
just looking for advice and some help on what to do. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated. Thanks for everyones time and effort to help me out. Thanks Chris

Re: getting water in my outdrive

What you need to do is remove the outdrive, drain the gear lube and pressure and vacuum check the drive to find the source of the leak.
If there is water in the bellows, that may very well be how the water got in, but you need to make sure.
The bellows isn't very hard to change, but I would suggest you get an OEM manual before attempting it.
