1976 boat with Ford 302 and Mercruiser drive, gets water in #4 cylinder. Replaced heads, intake manifold, engine block, exhaust manifold. Motor runs good out of water. Still gets water in #4 cylinder. Anybody know how to fix this problem?

I would get the exhaust manifolds and risers pressure tested. most likely you have a crack inside the manifold which is causing water to settle in nummber 4.. good luck....

sxt,

My money is on the riser/elbow (the part above the manifold).

Ditto on the manifolds or risers. I would take them apart first to see if they are worth having them pressure tested but as old as they are I think its time for new ones.

Thanks for your thoughts.

The manifold has been replaced but I think it was leaking where the riser (hump thing) bolts to the back of the manifold.

The guy had boat bfore me used silicone gasket sealer there instead of a gasket. This might be a good place to start?
