Okay, got the oil situation solved, man that filter is a bugger!

Flushed out the cooling system with tap water, and pulled all the plugs (5) from the cooling system. I had to lower the lower unit, as it apparently holds a fair bit of water in the upright position. Any other tips to ensure I got all the water out of the expensive places.

Re: Getting the water out

If you store outside either lower the drive or cover the prop hub to prevent water build up in the bullet.

Did you pull the block drain plugs?

That should be all of them.

Change the engine and drive oils. Or at least make sure they dont have any water in them to corrode from the inside over the winter.

Dont forget to hit the fittings with some fresh grease.

Ayuh,... But, Did you get a good solid flow of water from ALL of them,..??
I always Pull the drains,+ Rod 'em out with a screw...
Also,...
Pull the Big hose off the circulating pump,.... It'll be holding nearly another Qt. of water....
How about the P/S Cooler,..?? Drained,..??

Re: Getting the water out

Don't think she has a power steering cooler, when I checked with the dealer they confirmed there are only the five drain plugs. 2 on the block, 1 each for the risers, 1 at a fitting connected to the large hose off the water pump. I store it inside, think I'll hop down and disconnect the lowest hose as well though, just to be safe. Usually water doesn't freeze in my garage until the outside temp hits about -40C. As I store my bottled water/beer/pop in the garage all winter. The worst I get is a bit of ice in any of them. I just like being overly careful.

Ayuh,... If the barge has P/Steering,....
It's got a Cooler, usually mounted Under the portside of the block, In the in-coming waterline......

Didn't see any other blue plugs when changing the filter (same area I guess) but I'll take another look. Should I pull a plug, or does the hose need to be disconnected there?

Ayuh,... Either, Or.... I can't see your application...
To Cheat it if you have to pull the hose,...
Pull it off at the T-Stat housing,+ dump a Qt. of antifreeze in it....;)
