Hello all, and happy spring (almost).

I plan on doing some work on my trailer this spring, sand it down, clean it up etc. Maybe install some hydraulic brakes. Anyways, two questions

1) Anyone have some ideas on the easiest way of getting the boat off the trailer. its a 20ft weighing close to 3000lbs, so it's not a lift and grab job.

2) i'm thinking of getting that spray-on truck bed liner put on the trailer. it'll be rock solid, wont rust, and wont chip. anyone used that before?

Thanks
Stephen

Not trying to be a smart alec but you could always float it. Barring that hoist her up on jacks and deflate the tires. This should lower it enough to ease the boat off. You may need to make adjustments to your stands as you pull the trailer out.

As for the bed liner, I hope you get it all as if water gets under the liner material, you could get excessive and perhaps unseen rusting. I can't give you a a solid reason but something about it sounds wrong to me.

Re: Getting the boat off the trailer...

I didn't take photos of the process, but I recently took my 21' boat off the trailer. http://i46.photobucket.com/albums/f112/gspiggle/ae070da1.jpg
First get a solid anchor point, I used my tractor.
Second, get your blocking material, I used cinder blocks turned web side up with wood on top.
Third, get a floor jack.
Now, I used a heavy cargo strap and tied the transom tie downs to my tractor. I then hooked the trailer to my truck. I placed the floor jack under the keel a couple of feet ahead of rear crossmember of the trailer. I jacked the boat up until I could see the hull just start to leave the bunks. I pulled the truck and trailer forward a couple of feet. I put a block under the keel and one at each strake immediately under the transom. I did use the floor jack to provide clearance between the blocks and the hull to place wood blocks. Then it was a process of pulling the trailer out a few feet and block and pull out and block until the trailer was free.
