I had posted a omc problem and had a responce back from Don.
I would like to look at changing out from omc. The boat oem was 5.7 with a mercruiser and the last owner had switched out motor and outdrive to a ford 302 5.0HO and a 1993 cobra outdrive. I do not know if the 302 is strong enough to push this 98 maxum 2300sc 4,000lb boat at my elevation 6,000 ft.
I would like to get all the info i can get on changing to the volvo outdrive and if the duoprop would be better then the single prop. should i also look at changing the engine or just beefing it up.
A kit was mentioned about changing just the out drive but could not find any info on said kit.
Any help would be great.
Thanks

Re: getting rid of the omc

Your other option (might even be cheaper) would be to find yourself a Bravo I, II, or III and put a 454 in it. That would absolutely have the power you need.

That's what I did.
