I have a 19' trophy with a merc 125 outboard. Yesterday, I had a hard time getting it to get up on plane. had 3 big guys in the boat, 2 of them back towards the transom. Would having too much weight in the back of the boat make it harder to get up on plane?
Dave

Yep...Will make stern sit further in water causing boat to climb a bigger "water hill" to get on top. Things to help...move weight (i.e. a guy) to front, make sure motor is trimmed in all the way, if normal operating mode is 3 big guys research a fin or trim tabs.

BL...

My boat did the same. I transfered batteries to the front and some other misc "heavy" things as well. Then mounted a hydrofoil on the outboard. No problem now. Even with another big corn fed guy at the back too.
