From what I've read, these GM stereos are notorious for swallowing CD's and not giving them back, a run of low quality stereos in those years. My '05 started acting up recently, but it has only been sporadic. The disc will not eject, and it just sits there clicking, then displays either "NO DISC" or "CHECK DISC". I've had it happen sporadically with CD-R's. Then yesterday it wouldn't give a commercial CD back at all.
I got it out today, and wanted to pass along a couple solutions if anyone else has the problem.
First I tried the "remove the fuse and reset the radio" method shown here http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&ved=0CCgQtwIwAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DahdM2VScWeY&ei=uwNhU-LNEKansQS5sYGQCw&usg=AFQjCNER59i36rnszkFQEqqozi4SV5DpWw&sig2=3p0UH9l_F79wm4CeGnYIww . It didn't work for me. Then I came across another solution on a Chevy forum that worked: You hit the EJECT button, and while it sits there clicking, you stick two butter knives in, one on top of the disc and one on the bottom, sort of squeeze the disc in between and pull. It took a couple attempts, but it worked.
I'm still going use the player, but only with CD-R's from now on in case eventually I'm not able to one out, I can just burn another disc to replace it. Hope this is helpful.
