After doing reinstallation of my boat engine and outdrive my boat while in the water i can not get it on plain, its wants to go to about a 45 degree angle and remain there. anyone what adjustments i need to make to get it on plain.

This isn't a Chap issue, it's a motor issue
What motor do you have and I'll move it?

Were getting closer, moved to Merc
Do you have the motor serial number or the year?

Why was the motor removed?

Has timing been checked?

Is the throttle cable opening the carb fully (assuming carb motor)?

original motor had cracks in head and block, after rworking new motor it seems to run good, does motor have to run at full throttle to get it on plane or does adjustment of power trim have anything to do with it.

That depends on the health of the motor and the weight of the boat.

Not knowing if the motor is new Reman or old one removed from another boat can change expectations. If it's a Reman then compression is good, but if it is one from another boat, then it may be worn out.

It was a motor from another boat, had cracks in block that i welded uo and ran on test stand before putting in my boat seem to ran good.

ok, then it may be low on compression. A motor that has low compression will run good similar to a Reman, but when put under load it shows it self.

A motor should be close to 150 psi per cylinder. As compression gets lower so does the HP. The same motor with 100 psi will start and run fine under no load, but will only have 1/2 the HP of the new one

Do a compression test. Might be able to get a gauge from a local auto parts place through a tool loaner program. Either that or buy one which doesn't cost that much

As mentioned check health of engine but was the original engine and thus drive ratio a 3.0 ?

Yes. Assuming your motor is healthy (welded up cracks are not healthy)

The 3.0 has to be at full throttle and the drive has to be fully down.

After the boat starts to come out of the hole, you can start raising the drive, and once you are up on plane you can start backing off the throttle

What are the compression numbers in all cylinders?

Is this an older motor with points, or a newer motor with electronic ignition?

Its and older boat with points, welded up block compression numbers were above 150

Getting enough info to determine what may be wrong remains a chore. If you could just give it all it would be much easier. Kind of like following bread crumbs

ok motor compression is better then a new motor, or gauge is off.

What boat model Chap "what"?
Is outdrive original, came from another boat?
Do you know what the drive ratio is and what pitch prop is installed?

points means its pre 1991

did you set the points with a feeler gauge or a dwell meter? did you verify timing after setting the points?

as AD stated. help us help you. we need to know everything
