I am picking up my boat and motor here soon and am going to probably going to have to rebuild the Johnson 70hp (U/K year). I was just wondering if their is anything my local machine shop person needs to know. He has never done a boat motor but is very good with his measurements on car motors I have had done. He however made it very clear that this would be his first boat motor and that he is not well educated on them. Other then inboards.

Is there anything he needs to know?

He said it should be straight forward, however; I should do some research before bringing it in to him. (he is doing it for ½ price). He is asking me to bring a list of minimum specks for him so that he doesn’t do unnecessary work.

Assuming it's a looper, it has great big holes in the side of the cylinders which scare off some people.
