Getting a new Yamaha, go with 70 or 75hp?

I am updating my '68 100hp Evinrude and 6hp Johnson trolling motor on a 16.2 foot Blue Fin aluminum boat. I would like to be able to troll as well as get off the lake in a reasonable time using one motor. Price considerations aside, which would be the better choice?

The f70 is far lighter than the 75 and should provide "about" the same performance.

BUT, it's a new motor and there's not a lot out there (yet) to form any solid decisions.

But Yamaha has always provided tough power plants.

Both should work quite well for what you want.
But don't expect either of these motors to equal the performance and top speed of your 100hp.

You should see low 30mph though.

Good luck.
