...Friday night. Candlewood Lake. Merc 4.3lx with Alpha One. Am i risking a freeze if i leave her in overnight? Better off leaving her in than risking pulling her after work and not completely draining it because it will be in the dark?

Thanks

Being in the water does keep the engine compartment a bit warmer. Leave the boat in the water, but drain it and hope for the best and don't wait till the last possible second the next time.

The water temp isn't as cold as the air temp.It Should be ok to leave it in the water for now.I think it would freeze easier up on land.

Ayuh,... Just got home from drainin' the 4.3l in My tinbarge,...

Might just have to pull it next weekend...

When I run it, I'll drain it again...

Dang, I got cold last night when it dropped down to 68 F. Had to pull a sweatshirt out of the closet.

Yeah, but you have to put up with Florida, I don't. Isn't it nice that not everyone is the same and likes the same thing.

But it is nice to know that the Florida crowd posts every year that they don't have to winterize. Woopie Wow

If you are really worried about it and have access to power you could put a light bulb under it. Just be careful on placement.

P.S. I considered moving to Florida until I went there.

Are there detailed diagrams showing the water circulation in the cooling system AND the block anywhere? I've looked in the svc manual, but couldn't find any.

Yes there are diagrams, and they are in the manuals. What's the SN for your engine?

Ok, it's a 1994, does your thermostat housing have 4 or 6 hoses going to it?
Never mind, looks like the 94 only used 1 style. 4 Hoses.

Hmmm. Draining my boat once a year versus salt water operations/corrosion. Seems an easy choice to me, especially since I like to: Riding.jpg

Actually, it's a 6-hose - with the 2 going to the exhaust elbows.
