Will it be the same rating if you mount the motor bow mount or transom mount ?

56 Pound trust sounds a little too less to me when its windy.
I got a 40pound transom mount electric on a 13foot runabout wit a 2Stroke 40Hp.
The dealer said its big enoght, today i have to say he is (edit).
When it gets a bit windy (not much) the boat is getting very difficult to manouvre.
And its a difficult task mounting a transom mont ElectricMotor on the bow. The shaft is also too short for that.

I recomend trying out a desplay model if possible or get the bigger one if in doubt and you live in a windy envireonment

Re: get the bigger bow mount if its windy

The Bow Mount 56 lbs will be more than enough power for that boat. The difference is in pushing the boat or pulling the boat like a bow mount would.
I had a 30 lb Bowmount on a 16ft, with a 30 hp and it was rarely used on high power. Now I have a 42 Autopilot on a 16.5 ft and it seems to be adequate.
On this (16.5) boat I do also have a 30 lb transom troller, but is not very effective. Very hard to control from the rear...even in calm water.
Dman
